Robert was cycling to work when a van turned across his path. He
suffered injuries to his foot and was off work for a month.
Initially liability was denied. The defendants tried to say that
he was the author of his own misfortune.
The offer to settle the claim by the defendants were
rejected as too low. In fact ultimately the claim settled for
£4,250. The potential maximum value of the claim was £4,500 and
this therefore represented a very fair settlement.
