Significant win for musician with wrist injury after bike accident

Mark Bowman, cycle accident specialist, has won a substantial sum of compensation for Mr White following a road traffic collision that took place on 6 February 2007.

Mr White had been cycling to work and entered a roundabout with the intention of turning right. As he entered the roundabout, a bus, which was approaching the roundabout from his left hand side, failed to note Mr White's presence and collided with him.

Mr White was thrown from his bicycle and suffered a major injury to his right, dominant wrist, whereby his radius was completely shattered and his scaphoid and ulna styloid bones fractured. He required surgery to his wrist following the accident together with an extensive course of physiotherapy.

The defendants admitted liability for the collision but questioned the nature and impact of the injuries sustained by Mr White.

The injuries were, in fact, significant to Mr White due to the fact that he worked as an actor/musician and therefore required full use of his right wrist to play the various instruments that he specialised in.

Following extensive negotiations with the Defendants, Mr White accepted the sum of £56,250 in settlement of his claim for compensation. Mark Bowman acted under the terms of a No Win, No Fee agreement and Mr White recovered his damages in full.

Mark Bowman comments:

"I am pleased to have been able to achieve such a good outcome in this claim. Mr White's injury was significant and the impact potentially significant given his unique career. The settlement will provide Mr White with the means to ensure that he is able to pay for any further treatment that may be required and will help to compensate him for the expenses and pain and suffering that he has endured."
Mr White said:
"My accident has had a significant impact on my life and work. Throughout this traumatic experience it was a great comfort to know that I had such competent, effective and hard working support from Mark Bowman and his team.
"I was guided through what became a complex legal process and received comprehensive and insightful advice throughout. The final award was substantial and I am very grateful to Mark for his excellent work."
