Paul McNeil speaks at Roadpeace conference

Roadpeace hosted the conference

Roadpeace conference

on 7 April

The conference marked 15 years of RoadPeace’s campaigning work for and on behalf of road crash victims. The conference featured the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone.

Roadpeace logo   Paul McNeil from Field Fisher Waterhouse led with other leading lawyers the discussion on strict liability for drivers. Speaking after the event, Paul said "The event generated significant interest and provided opportunities for discussing road law from the victims' perspective. Clearly reversing the legal burden of proof will dramatically improve the ability of victims and their families to recover compensation. Nevertheless it is important that no reduction in the levels of compensation result from this drive for strict liability".

Topics discussed at the conference included developments in the area of crash investigations and justice issues, including the new CPS charging guidelines for driving offences, the Corporate Manslaughter Act, the Victim Surcharge and the new Road Death Investigation Manual.
