Government urged to provide compensation for pleural plaques

Rodney Nelson-Jones, who is an asbestos claims lawyers in Field Fisher Waterhouse's Personal Injury group, attended a demonstration outside the House of Commons this week drawing attention to the plight of victims of pleural plaques who have not received compensation.  At a meeting nearby, Rodney Nelson-Jones spoke to the gathering of about 250 MPs, trades unionists and pressure group workers, urging the U.K. government to provide compensation for sufferers of pleural plaques in England and Wales.

Pleural Plaques Demonstration

Compensation was denied to sufferers of pleural plaques by an adverse House of Lords decision last autumn. The Scottish government has already decided to legislate to reverse the House of Lords decision in Scotland. Rodney and the other speakers urged the U.K. government to pass similar legislation for English and Welsh victims.
