Speaking after
the event Paul commented: “Obstetric
negligence cases cost the NHS hundreds of million pounds every
year. It still requires the utmost skill to win a case on behalf of
a child with cerebral palsy. Only expert lawyers with specialist
experience can deal with such cases. The conference was a useful
forum to exchange views and hone skills”. |
The two day event took place on 22 May 2008 at Jurys Great
Russell Hotel in London and was attended by medical negligence
lawyers, obstetricians, gynaecologists, hospital and clinical risk
managers, senior midwives and obstetric nurses. A panel of
healthcare experts discussed key issues in obstetric negligence
which are a major source of litigation against the NHS and other UK
healthcare providers, and provided information on the latest
developments and current best practice.
best practices in the management of obstetric
