An injured police officer who claimed doctors removed his leg
unnecessarily has said he will sue the hospital involved.
Pc Miles Wilson, 37, said Southampton General Hospital failed to
detect an artery blockage after he fell and hurt his knee on
November 17 last year.
Doctors inadequately diagnosed his condition, he claims, and
then backlogs caused him to wait for five days for an MRI scan.
Pc Wilson said: "I am in a lot of pain and get regular attacks
of phantom limb pain. I would describe this as an electric pain
where I feel my foot should be. I am trying to stay positive,
however I am finding things incredibly frustrating.
"Doing ordinary daily things is difficult, everything takes a
long time. Nothing is easy any more.
"It is very hard to think that the need for amputation might
have been avoided."
