Mother appeals for regulation following fatal plane crash

We are currently pursuing a fatal personal injury claim for Alastair Rowe, a British tourist who was killed in a plane crash in Peru last month.

Alastair Rowe was travelling in Peru when he was involved in a plane crash. The light aircraft Cessna he was travelling in crashed over the Nasca lines on 2 October, killing Alastair and three other British tourists who were also onboard.

Peter Williams, personal injury lawyer, has been instructed by Alastair's family to pursue a personal injury claim. He is working with Tony Lewis, a partner in our dispute resolution team.

Flights over the Nasca lines are popular with tourists wanting to view these ancient geoglyphs. There have been a series of incidents involving light aircraft flying over the lines.

Since December 2007 thirteen people have died in crashes over the Nasca lines including an accident in February of this year in which seven people were killed.  Suzy Rowe, Alastair’s mother, is determined to ensure that other British tourists are warned of the dangers of flying over the Nasca lines.

An appeal has been made to the British Ambassador in Peru to ensure that the Peruvian government takes concrete steps to regulate flights operating over the Nasca lines.

Alastair’s mother said, “The safety record of airlines undertaking trips over the lines is abysmal. I believe Alastair’s death could have been avoided if proper advice concerning these tourist flights was given and/or if they had been properly regulated”

Criminal and civil investigations are currently on going in Peru.
